Our Philosophy at Better Day

Caring for someone with memory loss and cognitive impairment often takes a village, and at Better Day Adult Social Day Program, we’re truly here to help. Our philosophy is simple, we focus on creating a better day for everyone around us. This includes our guests, their families, our staff and our community at large.

Our philosophy behind creating a better day is grounded in providing compassionate care, assistance and support to all of those experiencing the challenges associated with Alzheimer’s disease and other forms of dementia. Our staff of care partners at Better Day have years of experience and are well-versed both professionally and personally with the challenges those living with these diseases face each day, as well as the difficulties their loved ones and caregivers face caring for them.

Our unique, “at home” social day program is carefully designed to provide support and meaningful engagement for our day guests. We accomplish this with a small guest to care partner ratio, a gentle rhythm throughout the day and week, and bright yet calming  surroundings. Our staff’s talent to meet our guests where they are creates the platform for success. Pet, art and music therapies are the icing on the cake.We ensure that our guests are included and connected and not treated as patients. We are together, we share meals, we sing, we dance, we laugh, we cry — we embrace life. It’s that uplifting yet grounded, positive and authentic mentality that helps us to truly create a better day, each and every day.

And our village includes more than just our guests with Alzheimer’s disease and other forms of dementia — at Better Day we also host a Caregiver Support Group on the 2nd Monday of each month, from 5:30-7:00pm, and our Time Out Memory Cafe on the 4th Sunday of each month, from 1-3pm. Both of these free events are open to everyone in our community, regardless of whether or not your loved one attends our program, and are facilitated to share our expertise, offer support and connect others in similar circumstances together. More information on these offerings can be found here and be sure to read our blog post on what to expect at a Memory Cafe!
